A Taste of Talmud
Dates: February 2, 9 and 16
Time: 7:30 – 9:00 pm
Location: Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim
Instructor: Rabbi Stephanie Alexander
The Talmud is foundational to so much of what we study in Judaism – but, perhaps most importantly, it is foundational to how we study. Over the course of three sessions, participants will get a “taste” of how the Talmud developed, what it covers, and what truths it hopes to impart. We will gain an appreciation for how sages, sometimes several generations apart, can engage in direct dialogue with one another. And we will engage in the dialogue, as well – both with this quintessential text, and with one another.

The JCC Cultural Arts Committee and the CJF REMEMBER Program for Holocaust & Genocide Education invite you to a very special screening of Soldiers of Berga.
When Americans think of GI's and the Holocaust they envision young soldiers liberating death camps. They never think of American GI's as being victims of the Nazi's Final Solution. But in a place called Berga, Jewish American POW's became just that, working and dying as slave laborers alongside European Jews, in one of Hitler's most secretive concentration camps. This compelling National Geographic film tells the story of Berga through eyewitness testimony of the handful who survived.

Young Adult at Heart Program
Young Adult at Heart is a place for grownups who never outgrew a love of young adult literature.
This month, we've got another wonderful book lined up: Will Grayson, Will Grayson by YA authors John Green and David Levithan. I like to say that this book is the ultimate two-for-one, as you get both Green and Levithan AND you get two awesome narrators--Will Grayson one and Will Grayson two. This one will (hopefully) make you laugh a bit more than the last one--it's a faster, lighter read than The Book Thief. Also, Levithan came to Charleston in November for YALLFest, the first annual Young Adult book fesitval here, so I'm hoping he'll come back again this year and we can all meet him...
So, the quick details:
Where: Meeting Room B, Main Library (68 Calhoun)
When: Tuesday, February 28, 6pm-7pm
What: Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan-----Click here to reserve a copy of the print book, here for the audiobook, here for the ebook, and here for the e-audiobook.
There will be tea and cupcakes.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Happy reading,
Sarah Kellner
